Governor Alex Otti has unveiled plans to rehabilitate the Ministry of Agriculture headquarters in Umuahia, geared towards upgrading the facility to modern standards and align operations with global best practices in Agriculture.

The Governor made the disclosure during an unscheduled inspection visit to the Ministry’s facility.

Speaking shortly after touring the premises, Governor Otti emphasized that the Ministry carries the critical mandate of ensuring food security for the people of Abia State, and requires a more expansive and conducive environment that can accommodate both crop and livestock agricultural activities.

Responding to the Governor’s declaration, the Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. Cliff Agbaeze, FCIB, described the decision as timely and strategic.

He noted that a more suitable and functional headquarters would not only improve staff welfare but also enhance productivity in line with the ministry’s agricultural goals.

Southeastposts reports that the Governor was accompanied on the visit by the Secretary to the State Government, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Commissioners, and other top government officials.
