Disturbed by alleged lack of provision of necessary materials and equipment to electoral centers during past elections in the country, Nonso Nwakile, the President- General of Umuanuka Otolo Nnewi, has tasked the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to put it’s house in order ahead the November 8, 2025 Governorship Election in Anambra.
Speaking while appraising the Anambra South Senatorial District rerun election, on Sunday.
Nwakile who described the rerun election as a litmus for the forthcoming Governorship Election in Anambra, charged INEC to put its house in order, train it’s staff get all necessary logistics equipment ready in preparation for the governorship election in the state.
Nwakile, an APGA chieftain alleged that INEC had often left out logistics during elections, emphasizing that during the rerun elections in Anambra some voting centers were not provided with the necessary materials and equipment.
According to him, this made voters and people from the community go about looking for seats, tables, generators for the INEC staff to enable them do their job.
He urged INEC to prepare itself well before the Governorship election in the state and conduct a hitch- free, fair, credible governorship election for Anambra people.
He said, ” INEC should provide all necessary logistics and equipment to all the voting centers to enable it’s staff perform their duties. Tables, chairs, generators and other equipment should be provided by INEC, not the voters and community people in the areas where the elections are to be conducted. Oftentimes people go about during election looking for seats, generators for INEC staff to do their job. This is wrong. INEC should prepare itself well before the November governorship election in Anambra and conduct a free, fair creditable Governorship election in the state”.
