As the controversy over the authentic Chairman of the African Democratic Congress ADC, continues, some leaders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Abia State chapter have suspended the party’s State Chairman, Mr. Don Norman Obinna over allegations of misconduct and disregard for party principles.

The leaders made the announcement during a harmonization meeting of different factions of the party held on Friday in Aba, where the participants suspended Obinna pending investigation into petitions against him.

Addressing journalists on Friday after the meeting, Interim Chairman of the party, Okoroafor Kanu, alleged that Obinna’s leadership style isolated party members.

Kanu stated that the decision to suspend Obinna was reached after deliberation and a motion was passed to set up a disciplinary committee, which he now heads, to investigate the allegations.

Meanwhile, the suspension has been strongly challenged by some members of the party, including Rev. Blessed Amalambu, ADC’s 2023 House of Assembly candidate for Umuahia North constituency.

Amalambu who dismissed the process that was used in the suspension, added that it was unconstitutional and lacking in credibility just as he insisted that the panel that suspended the ADC Chairman lacked legal backing.
