The Deputy Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Anambra State November 8 governorship election, Senator Uche Ekwunife, says publications accusing her of using fake certificates is false.
Senator Ekwunife was reacting to allegations from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) that she submitted fake certificates to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ahead the November 8 election in Anambra State,
A statement by her Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Tony Ezike, said: “The recent attempt to question the academic qualifications of Senator Uche Ekwunife is nothing short of a desperate and politically motivated smear campaign.
According to the statement,“These allegations are entirely false, malicious, and aimed at distracting the public from her rising popularity and growing acceptance across Anambra State. For the record, Senator Ekwunife holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Education from the University of Calabar, a well-recognised and verifiable qualification. She fulfilled her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) obligations between May 3, 1993, and May 2, 1994.
“She went on to earn a Master’s degree in Business Administration during the 2002/2003 academic year from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka. Furthermore, Senator Ekwunife obtained a Doctorate in Public Administration from Atlantic International University (AIU), a programme accredited by the Accreditation Service for International Schools, Colleges & Universities (ASIC) as a Premier Institution from December 29, 2019, to December 28, 2023 (Accreditation No: AS72719/0915). These are verified facts, neither speculation nor hearsay.”
Ezike further revealed that Governor Chukwuma Soludo and APGA are afraid of the rising popularity of Senator Ekwunife, adding that Soludo’s administration has continued to face widespread criticism over insecurity and unfulfilled promises.
“The answer is clear: Senator Ekwunife poses a real political threat. Her grassroots influence, track record of service, and strong connection with the people have made her the candidate to watch. It is no surprise, therefore, that the Soludo administration has resorted to propaganda, fake narratives, and outright lies to undermine her candidacy.
“A recent example speaks volumes: despite lucrative offers from the state government of millions of naira, road projects, and streetlights, the people of Nri Kingdom stood their ground. They rejected these attempts at inducement, confronted thugs sent to vandalise APC campaign materials, and marched in solidarity to Senator Ekwunife’s residence. Their bold stand is a testament to her growing support.
“Senator Ekwunife is not responsible for the failures of the current administration. Rather than waste public resources on character attacks, Governor Soludo should focus on addressing the urgent issues confronting Anambra State, particularly rising insecurity and the lack of visible development.
“The people of Anambra deserve better. As the 2025 elections approach, the APC ticket of Ukachukwu and Ekwunife represents a credible alternative, one that offers vision, competence, and a commitment to real transformation across the state.
“Senator Uche Ekwunife remains focused on service and undeterred by distractions. No amount of falsehoods can stop the tide of change sweeping across Anambra.”
