Governor Hope Uzodimma has saluted Nigera’s D’Tigress for their exploits at the FIBA Women’s Afrobasket 2025 Tournament.
Recall that the team clinched their fifth consecutive AfroBasket title—and seventh overall—by defeating Mali 78–64 in the final played at the Palais des Sports de Treichville in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.
The remarkable win re-affirmed their dominance in African women’s basketball and continued an unbroken winning streak that began in 2017.
Posting on his verified X account, Governor Uzodimma said, “I congratulate the D’Tigress National Basketball Team on their outstanding victory at the FIBA Women’s Afrobasket 2025 Tournament.
“Bringing home the trophy is a remarkable achievement that reflects the team’s resilience, hard work, and unyielding commitment to excellence. This triumph not only brings immense pride to our nation but also reaffirms Nigeria’s progress in unity.
I extend special commendation to our illustrious Imo Daughters, Promise Amukamara @iPromisee and Sarah Ogoke @Proliife7, whose strength, dedication, and patriotism have been evident in the team. Ndi Imo are truly proud of them and I encourage them to remain a beacon of excellence, continuing to uplift and motivate the next generation of champions.”
