Following talks about existence of factions in the party, the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Abia State chapter, on Saturday, refuted comments on the existence of factions in the party, saying the party remains one, pursuing same goal.
Deacon Iyke Nwoke, the Interim Chairman of the ADC, who stated this during an enlarged meeting of the party at its office located near Express Tower Umuahia, Abia State, said he has been the Interim Chairman of the party since the 2023 general elections.
He insisted that his position as the Interim Chairman of the party has never been questioned anywhere recognized by law, adding that those laying claim have been suspended from the party, wondering how and why one can claim to be the authentic Chairman without an office.
Deacon Nwoke challenged anyone claiming to be the authentic Chairman of the party in the State to tell Abians his office and supporters, stressing that the mammoth crowd that trooped out for the enlarged meeting is an indication that he is the recognized Chairman of the party.
“All those who want to identify with ADC, they cannot ask them to go out. It is not possible. Any other person claiming to be holding ADC meeting, is definitely helping us to publicize the party. I reiterate that ADC in Abia State is one, no faction, no division, and what is happening here today, further authenticates that we are well grounded in Abia. You can see the mammoth crowd.”
“You can see the number of people here. Does it look like we are doing any fake thing? You can see where we are staying. This is headquarters of ADC in the state. It is not disputed. You don’t rent one tiny place and say you are the ADC chairman. You are just trying to disgrace yourself”.
On the position of the National leadership of the ADC headed by Senator David Mark, Deacon Nwoke said the ADC in the State, is in full support of the coalition, adding that the National leadership of the ADC and those in the coalition also recognize him as the authentic chairman of the party in the State.
He expressed optimism that with the birth of the coalition, the ADC will be more viable and stronger, emphasizing that the party is fully prepared ahead 2027 election, stressing that Abia ADC is in full support of the coalition.
Affirming the position of the party in a communiqué signed by stakeholders of the party including: the Governorship Candidate of the ADC in the 2023 election, Bishop Sunday Onuoha, Sen. Enyinnaya Abaribe, Deacon Iyke Nwoke, Dr. Emeka Kalu, Hon. Nnenna Ukeje, Barr. P.C Udenwa, Rev. Marty Orji, Chimezie Ubadire and 190 others, the interim State Secretary of Abia State coalition ADC. Chief Okey Ezeala, said there is no faction in Abia ADC.
In the communiqué , Abia State chapter of the African Democratic Congress ADC, says it is happy to welcome the decisions of the defunct Chief Ralph Nwosu led NWC, which ushered in the coalition ADC under the proactive interim leadership of Sen. David Mark – GCON.
The communique informed that Abia State ADC aligns with the decisions of the ADC, adding that Abia State ADC is united as one political family under the State Leader and benefactor, Bishop Sunday Ndukwo Onuoha.
