Abia State Police Command says it raided criminal hideout along Uturu/Isuikwuato axis and apprehended four suspects for criminal conspiracy and armed robbery.
The Command also stated that it recovered firearms and exibits including: One locally made pistol, one knife, one iPhone 7 Plus, one Infinix phone and one laptop.
According to a release by the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Abia State Police Command, DSP Maureen Chinaka on Thursday, the Uturu Divisional Police Headquarters acted on a credible information regarding a group of suspected armed robbers who have been terrorizing and dispossessing students of Abia State University, Uturu (ABSU) and other residents of their belongings.
The statement added that the Uturu Divisional Police Headquarters in collaboration with local residents, led by the Divisional Police Officer, successfully traced the hideout of the suspects and apprehended four male suspects.
DSP Chinaka said the raid led to the arrest of Jerry Chisom, Tochukwu Ugula, Chinonso Nwankwo and Kingsley Onyekeba, adding that investigation is ongoing to apprehend other fleeing accomplices.
Reacting to the stride by his Command, the Abia State Commissioner of Police, CP Danladi Isa, enjoined the people of Abia State to continue to partner the police by relaying useful information.

The CP also urged the public to report any suspicious persons and activities through the Command’s emergency hotlines: 08035415405, 08079210004, 08079210005, 08079210006 just as the CP tasked the public to ensure they say something, when they see something.
The release reads in part: On 16/07/2025 at about 15:49hrs, following a report received at the Uturu Divisional Police Headquarters regarding a group of suspected armed robbers who have been terrorizing and dispossessing students of Abia State University, Uturu (ABSU) and other residents of their belongings
“Officers from the Uturu Divisional Headquarters, in collaboration with local residents, led by the Divisional Police Officer, successfully traced the hideout of the suspects and apprehended four male suspects. Investigation is ongoing to apprehend other fleeing accomplices.
“In connection with the ongoing raids along the Uturu/Isuikwuato axis, the Command has also identified and dismantled other criminal camps in order to rid the area of criminal elements and their activities.
“The Commissioner of Police, Abia State Command, CP Danladi Isa has urged the good people of Abia State to continue to partner with the police and to report any suspicious persons and activities.”
