In what many have described as a remarkable stride, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has officially announced the recovery of a vehicle at the National Vehicle Identification Scheme (NVIS), Desk Office in Nteje, Oyi Local Government Area, Anambra, three years after it was stolen.

The Sector Commander, FRSC, Anambra State Command, Mrs Joyce Alexander, made the disclosure on Wednesday in Awka.

According to her, the recovery of the stolen vehicle followed collaborative efforts of the corps and other security agencies.

She said the vehicle was discovered after an agent of the Board of Internal Revenue sent vehicle information for verification, which revealed that the vehicle had been missing for some time.

Alexander said, “Upon verification, the owner was contacted and confirmed that she had not seen the vehicle in three years.

“The owner provided original documents to prove ownership, and the Police from the Anambra state Command were immediately called in to take further action.

“The Command is working to ensure that the vehicle is returned to its rightful owner,” she said.

She described the feat as a testament to the effectiveness of the Corps’ NVIS database, urging all vehicle owners to ensure that their number plates are uploaded into the NVIS portal for ease of tracking and identification.
