Abia Police Command Rescues 3 Kidnapped Victims in Isuochi

Abia State Police Command says it has rescued kidnapped victims and recovered the sum of N2m and other exhibits in a rescue operation carried out by Operatives of the Command’s Intelligence Response Unit (IRU),

Giving further details in a release made available to newsmen in Umuahia on Monday, the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Abia State Command, DSP Maureen Chinaka, said the Command’s Intelligence Response Unit (IRU), acting on a credible information on a kidnapping incident that occurred at Afojide Market, Isuochi, rescued three kidnapped victims on Saturday, July 12th, 2025.

She gave their names as Ifeanyi Nnabuife, male, 44 years, from Anambra State; Onyedikachi Peter Onyegsi, male, 42 years, from Akpou, Isuochi, Abia State and Amarachi Nwaebubu, female, 26 years, from Anambra State.

The Abia State Police Command also revealed that this feat was achieved in conjunction with other command tactical teams, adding that it led to the recovery of items such as One red Lexus 350 Jeep, two million naira cash, three mobile phones and two leg chain shackles.

The release stated that some kidnappers connected with the heinous crime have been arrested, informing that they are currently undergoing interrogation.

DSP Chinaka quoted the Commissioner of Police Abia State Command, CP Danladi Isa, as having reiterated the Command’s commitment at ensuring that Abia State remained peaceful as well as uncomfortable for criminal elements.

The statement reads in part: “Following a report received by the Command on 12/04/2025 regarding a kidnapping incident that occurred at Afojide Market, Isuochi, operatives of the Command’s Intelligence Response Unit (IRU), acting on credible intelligence, in conjunction with other command tactical teams successfully rescued three kidnapped victims namely
Ifeanyi Nnabuife (male), Onyedikachi Peter Onyegsi (male), and Amarachi Nwaebubu (female) on 12/07/2025 at about 17:30hrs.

“In the course of the operation, a red Lexus 350 Jeep, two million naira cash (part of the ransom payment), three mobile phones, and two leg chain shackles were recovered. Some kidnappers connected with the heinous crime have been apprehended and currently undergoing interrogation.”
