Abia State Government says the Monthly Sanitation Exercise for the Month of June will hold on Saturday, June 28th 2025 in Abia State between the hours of 7:00am to 10:00am.
A release issued on Thursday by the Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Obioma Chidinma, with the approval of the Commissioner, Ministry of Environment, Mr.Philemon Ogbonna, said movement of people and vehicles during the period shall be restricted except those on essential duties who would be required to present on demand, valid identification or any authentic authorization for such exemption.
The release enjoined the Executive Chairmen, (Mayors) of the Local Government Councils, Traditional rulers,Town Union Leaders, Religious Leaders,Youth and Women Organizations in the State to monitor and sensitize their people on the importance of the exercise and to participate as well .
Furthermore, the release stated that all markets, motor parks, private and public transport companies as well as business premises are to remain closed on Friday June 27, 2025 between the hours of 7:00am and 9:00am to carry out their own clean-up exercise while informing that there will be tippers on Saturday to cart away refuse scooped out as usual.
Additionally, the release urged the Nigeria Police, Federal Road Safety Corps, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps to assemble at their usual place of take-off for deployment.
Also, the release directed people to stay at home, clean up their areas and must work with their nose masks just as it added that defaulters shall be arrested and prosecuted in line with the Abia State Basic Environmental Law.
The statement reads in part: “The general public is hereby informed that the Monthly Sanitation Exercise for the Month of June will be held on Saturday, June 28th 2025 in Abia State between the hours of 7:00am and 10:00am.
“The Executive Chairmen (Mayors) of the Local Government Councils , Traditional rulers,Town Union Leaders, Religious Leaders,Youth and Women Organizations in the State are required to monitor and sensitize their people on the importance of the exercise and to participate as well
