Two Brothers from Abia North in War of Words Over Nothing

0

Two brothers of Abia North descent, Dr. Desmond Chima Anyaso, who was the Deputy Governorship candidate of the Young Progressives Party, (YPP), in the 2023 elections and a former Deputy Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Cosmos Ndukwe are embroiled in war of words ahead the 2027 general election.

The political imbroglio which has resulted in heated verbal battle has generated reactions from various quarters, including public affairs and political analysts, journalists and bloggers from across the state is trending on Facebook.

Southeastposts, gathered that the brouhaha started when Cosmos Ndukwe made a post (which he deleted within seconds) using the Israel, Iran conflict as an illustration while also accusing Chima Anyaso of being a business politician who used unprintable means to achieve political fame.

But in what looked like a swift response, Chima Anyaso also made a post concerning the same hostilities between Israel and Iran where he also scratched Cosmos Ndukwe, referring him as a grandfather who should retire from politics.

The post sighted by Southeastposts reads: “Now that Iran and Israel have agreed to a complete and total ceasefire, I hope some old supposed leaders from Bende, who have lived off government all their lives, will also learn to respect their age at 62 and start behaving like grandparents.”

Anyaso also used the opportunity to enjoin aspiring leaders to exercise caution regarding individuals like Cosmos Ndukwe and his recent political affiliates—many of whom, he claimed, transitioned to the APC after 2023 for self-serving purposes.

Continuing, “Having served as a previously unsuccessful and disillusioned Chief of Staff to a Governor and a member of the State House of Assembly, Cosmos Ndukwe possesses a documented history of desperation in his quest for political significance, often inciting conflicts merely to secure self-interested positions.”

This post, aggravated the already tensed situation with responses pouring in among lovers and admirers of both politicians.

Dr. Chima further proclaimed that: “The unfortunate reality is that opportunities do not present themselves twice, particularly for someone who squandered his tenure as deputy speaker of the State Assembly while simultaneously attempting to navigate a suspended and unsuccessful presidential aspiration.”

“I initially hesitated to engage in a discourse with him, but his recent remarks were clearly aimed at me. Allow me to remind him that the people of Bende have moved beyond him. His political influence is now minimal,” Anyaso asserted.

“When the appropriate moment arises, we shall remind all of their true roles in the political landscape of Bende and Abia,” Anyaso concluded.”

Responding further, the former Deputy Speaker distanced himself from being a political business man, accusing Chima Anyaso of seeking for photographs with the Governor.

Cosmos further alleged that Chima Anyaso has never won any election or held any political position in the state, yet he has jumped from one party to another.

Hon. Cosmos also claimed that Anyaso is not capable of winning his polling unit.

Reacting, Dr Anyaso challenged Hon. Cosmos to show any business he has been able to start up and manage outside government funding, alleging that Cosmos has spent the better part of his life on government funds.

Recall that pictures of the Governor with Anyaso and others surfaces recently on social media which further fuelled speculations that Dr Chima Anyaso is positioning himself for House of Representatives for Bende Federal Constituency on the platform of the Labour Party, which informed his recent resignation from the YPP, though the Lagos based businessman is yet to announce his destination.

The development as at the time of filing the report, is still unfolding with many asking the two brothers to ceasefire and settle as brothers.
