2027: Abia North PDP Vows to Reclaim Zone

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP), in Abia North Senatorial District, says it is committed to reclaim the zone ahead the 2027 general elections,

This was revealed at a meeting on Sunday hosted at the Isuikwuato country home of party chieftain and leader, Etugo Ogah, involving party leaders and stakeholders drawn from the five local government areas of Bende, Ohafia, Arochukwu, Isuikwuato, and Umunneochi.

Southeastposts reports that the strategic meeting brought together top PDP figures and grassroots mobilizers, all united in the resolve to rebuild and strengthen the party’s presence in the region.

Reading out the communique at the close of the meeting, the PDP State Legal Adviser, Barr. Kingsley Imaga, noted that their discussions were centered on party progress, unity and strategy for future success.

According to the Communique, the leaders declared their collective resolve to build a more formidable force that can overwhelmingly win future elections, take over Government House in Umuahia and present a government that truly reflects the will and aspirations of the people.

They emphasized ongoing support for all party structures, from ward to state levels, and reiterated the importance of grassroots mobilization, loyalty, and internal cohesion.

The Stakeholders, however, praised the leadership of Abia North PDP, led by Chief Gabriel Elendu, and commended the State Working Committee, under Elder Abraham Amah, for repositioning the party with renewed vigor, appreciating the national leadership of the party, particularly Alhaji Umar Damagun and Senator Samuel Anyanwu, for their stewardship.

Members were further called to uphold unity and discipline, while the leaders pledged to adopt winning strategies aimed at returning PDP to power in 2027. “The time to rebuild and reclaim Abia State is now. We leave this meeting reinvigorated and inspired with a new sense of hope to enthrone good governance”, it added.

Addressing party faithful, the Abia North PDP chairman, Chief Gabriel Elendu, assured attendees that the PDP remained strong and united in Abia North. “Let’s believe in the PDP and the principles of our party. If we believe in ourselves, those who left will come back”, he said.

Goodwill messages from the different Local Government representatives reinforced optimism that the party would bounce back. The Arochukwu representative, Sunny Orie, Dr. I.O Uwaezuoke of Umunneochi, and Ndukwe Orji Agha of Ohafia Local Government Area, all described Abia North as the home of PDP and pledged grassroots mobilization ahead of 2027.

Representatives from Bende and Isuikwuato areas, equally applauded members who have remained loyal with the party through challenging times, urging them to remain resolute.

Speaking on behalf of the women, Mrs. Ijeoma Okorie, called for fairness within the party, emphasizing the need to eliminate selfishness and corruption in order to move the party forward.

In his address, the Abia State PDP Chairman, Elder Abraham Amah, outlined the party’s commitment to fielding only credible candidates in 2027, saying the era of candidate imposition was over. “Each Local Government will choose their candidates. You have to show capacity before you emerge. Our nominations and tickets will only go to the best, those who truly represent the people”, he affirmed.

Amah noted that the party’s foundation is built on empowerment and service to the people, therefore, candidates must show capacity.

Also speaking, the PDP Isuikwuato Local Government chairman who also doubles as the Chairman of all Local Government Party chairmen, High Chief Okechukwu Okorie, said the message of the party was clear, disclosing Isuikwuato’s readiness to join forces with other areas in ensuring the party reclaims it’s place in the political leadership of the State.

Speaking with newsmen, the host of the meeting, Etugo Ogah, reiterated his commitment to galvanizing support for the PDP across the district come 2027 and beyond.

Ogah revealed that although his brothers are actively involved in politics on various political platforms, but that would not deter him from ensuring victory for the PDP in the area.
