The South-East Zone of the People’s Democratic Party PDP, has recognized Senator Samuel Anyanwu as the National Secretary of the party.

Justifying the rationale behind their decision after an expanded meeting of the South-East zone of the PDP, held at the party’s Secretariat in Umuahia on Friday, they based their decision to back Anyanwu on the Supreme Court judgement that affirmed him as the authentic National Secretary of the party.

Announcing this to newsmen, the PDP Chairman in Imo State, Austin Nwachukwu, who said anyone disputing the authenticity of Senator Anyanwu as the National Chairman of the party, does so at his risk, said it was time for all to sheath their swords, forge a common front and work to redeem the party.

He stated that the era of backbiting and dragging the party backward was over, expressing optimism that the party is poised to assume it’s rightful place in the Nigerian political landscape, insisting that the party is currently being repositioned to the days the it provided hope for Nigerians.

“PDP is back to its rightful place in the South-East. The issue of National Secretary of our great party has been settled. The Supreme Court which is the highest court in the land settled it during that landmark judgement. I enjoin all to now put their differences aside and work for the interest of the party and its victory in future elections.”
