Security Operatives Repel Attack in Isuofia, Kill Two Hoodlums

Two members of an armed gang on Thursday lost their lives as joint security operatives resisted attack on a checkpoint in Isuofia community, Aguata Local Government Area.

Southeastposts reports that Isuofia is the community where the Governor of Anambra State, Prof Chukwuma Soludo hails from.

A press release by the state police command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga stated that even though two of the attackers were killed, one police operative paid the supreme price too, while a patrol van was torched.

He said: “One of the Anambra Joint Security Team in the late evening of 15th May 2025 resisted an attack by armed criminals at the Security checkpoint in Isuofia.

“Two of the armed hoodlums were neutralized in the process. Regrettably, one of the security operatives was fatally wounded, while one of the security operational vehicles was burnt by the bandits.

Continuing, “During the ensuing gun battle and due to the superior fire of the Joint security team, the criminals abandoned one of their operational vehicles, a Toyota Sienna and fled the scene.”

Ikenga add that the Commissioner of police in the state, CP Orutugu had assured that the command would apprehend the perpetrators, as the act was viewed as a test of the collective resolve of the Anambra people working with security forces to dislodge the criminal elements in the State.

He stated that calm had returned to the area and security reinforced with more armed operatives currently combing nearby bushes for possible arrest of the fleeing miscreants.
