Abia State government has appointed an Acting Provost for the Abia State College of Education Technical Arochukwu following the suspension of Professor Vincent Onwe from office as the Provost of the school.
A statement signed by the Acting Secretary to the Abia State Government, Ikechukwu Uwanna, Esq and made available to newsmen on Friday evening, said the suspension is with immediate effect.
According to the statement, Dr. Abdulkarim K. Jibril, who is the current Deputy Provost, has been appointed to serve as the Acting Provost. He is to assume duties immediately and oversee the administration of the College until further notice.
The decision to suspend Professor Vincent Onwe and appoint Dr Jibril was approved by Governor Alex Otti and its part of an ongoing administrative process aimed at promoting transparency, accountability, and effective functioning of the institution.
The release further directed staff, students, and stakeholders of the institution to accord the Acting Provost full cooperation and support as he discharges his responsibilities.
It concluded by expressing the state government’s commitment to upholding the highest standards of integrity, accountability, and good governance in the management of public institutions.
