Anambra State government has appealed to non-indigenes in the state to help the government in fighting insecurity by flushing out the bad eggs among them.
The state’s Commissioner for Information, Dr Law Mefor, who made the call while addressing members of the Association of Non Indigenes Welfare in Anambra State, who paid him a courtesy visit at his office in Awka, appreciated their contributions.
In a press statement on Wednesday, Mefor observed that non-indigenes have contributed meaningfully to the growth of the state and have equally benefited from Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s inclusive governance in various areas, including security, employment, infrastructure, healthcare, education and youth empowerment, among others.
He, however, explained that available data showed that the majority of the criminals apprehended in Anambra are non-indigenes, urging members of the association to do their best in supporting Soludo’s security interventions to rid the state of criminals to redeem their image.
Mefor said, “The issue of security is very important. Put it in your agenda. I am telling you that available data is showing that the majority of the criminals we have are non-indigenes. They are spoiling the names of those of you doing genuine business.
In their separate responses, the President General, ANISA-ANIAS, Chief Ikechukwu Ugwuoke, and the traditional leader of Non-Indegenes Welfare in Anambra State, Igwe Amos Nkwuda, said the visit was to align with the visionary leadership of Governor Soludo and also felicitate the commissioner on his 60th birthday, even as they pledged their support to the Governor’s re-election bid.
