presents Compelling Documentary Evidence

As a follow up on the second meeting which was held on the 11th of February, 2025, the Paramount Traditional Ruler of Amaoba Autonomous Community, His Royal Majesty King O’tuwa 1st, led a delegation to the office of the Deputy Governor of Abia State, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu on the 21st of February, 2025 for the third meeting regarding the Unlawful highjacking of Amaoba and Olokoro land by some criminal land raiders from Lodu.

In the previous meeting, the Deputy Governor had directed all parties to present documented evidence supporting their claims. In response, HRM King O’tuwa 1st made a comprehensive and well-substantiated presentation, backed by verifiable documents and facts.

The presentation which was made available to newsmen in Umuahia contained thus:

Making The Case For AJATA

In and around the 3rd quarter of 2016, Ugochuku Akwada of Lodu Ibeku in collaboration with Chikezie Ukaegbu Ebila (a porter at Michael Okpara University of Agriculture) an Amaoba native and Eze Ubani of Umuopara-Ozara conspired to con Abia State Government into acquiring AJATA farmland that did not belong to them. To prove authenticity and ownership, Ugochuku Akwada, the Principal Architect, presented Chikezie Ukaegbu Ebila as the Traditional Ruler of Amaoba; Eze Ubani as the Traditional Ruler of Umuopara-Ozara.

But there is a problem:- Chikezie Ukaegbu Ebila is not a Traditional Ruler. He was an IMPOSTOR. Eze Ubani is not the Traditional Ruler of Umuopara-Ozara. His first name is Eze and his surname is Ubani. However, he is the younger brother of Eze Sylvanus Ubani, the real Traditional Ruler of Umuopara-Ozara. You see the connection? By skillful manipulation of Ubani family name, Ugochukwu Akwada invented a second IMPOSTOR, “EZE UBANI”.

To succeed in the Abia State House, Akwada deceived Hon. Chi Chi Apugo, Hon. Chief Chijioke Uzoma Nwakodo and Dr. Ogbonnaya all of Ibeku into using their political influence to subvert justice in Abia State House. The land awarded to Lodu in 1989 was not AJATA. It was two portions of land called “Awom-Obaza” and “Okuta-Nkuko”. This is the MAIN PROBLEM. Court documents with SURVEY PLAN offer genuine proof beyond all claims.

– FACT: On 17/2/89, the High Court of Imo State sitting at Umuahia and presided by Honorable Justice D. E. Njiribeaku declared in favor of Lodu Ibeku all the land in dispute being 2 portions of land called “Awom-Obaza” and “Okuta-Nkuko” which share common boundaries and lies at the North Eastern edge of the area granted for the World Bank Project.

– FACT: This land continues up to the edge of Okata-Nkuko land. This Lodu’s portion runs southwards into OSIAMA or ANYA stream. The court maintained that this was indeed Lodu’s Awom-Obaza which they granted for the World Bank Project.

– FACT: Lodu and Umuana Ibeku are in the north of Anya; Amaoba Ime and Olokoro are in the south of the same stream, Anya. Indisputable and uncontestable for centuries until greedy land grabbers from Ibeku extended court verdict to include AJATA.

– FACT: South of OSIAMA or ANYA is a stretch of land called AJATA or Ala-Ocha which belongs to Olokoro and AMAOBA IME and was not part of the court settlement in 1989.

– FACT: The land shown to the Abia State Government by unauthorized citizens of Lodu Ibeku in exchange for land purchased from LODU by defunct Imo State Government does not belong to Lodu. That land is Amaoba Ime’s. AJATA stretches from North of Government College UMUDIKE through ABSU, Research, all the way down South to MOU UMUDIKE. North of Government College UMUDIKE and towards New Timber market is the boundary between Amaoba Ime and Umuana/Lodu Ibeku. Government College Umudike, ABSU, Research and MOU UMUDIKE are part of AJATA donated for establishment of those institutions.

The remaining portion, west of these institutions, is our farm land. Federal documents for the purchase reflect this fact. No Lodu in the Official Agreement. Definitively! Olokoro’s portion of this land, called Alaocha, is on the West of Amaoba/Olokoro boundary. More than 90% of the donated land belonged to Amaoba Ime.

– FACT: This deceitful diversion of original location of land acquired by defunct Imo State is an illegal attempt to make good on Lodu’s agreement to implement transfer of ownership to donee; in this case, Abia State Government.

– FACT: Witness for Lodu during the inquest by House of Assembly, Chikezie Ukaegbu (a porter at Michael Okpara University of Agriculture) who falsely represented himself as the Traditional Ruler of AMAOBA is a fraudulent impostor and should be reprimanded by House.

– FACT: Chikezie Ukaegbu and his three brothers who witnessed away AJATA for a 10% cut of loot have been banned for life from Amaoba community activities.

– FACT: Some Ibeku politicians friendly with Ugochukwu Akwada whom he hoodwinked to deceive the House were Hon. Chief Uzoma Nwakodo (deceased), Dr. Ogbonnaya and most importantly, Hon. Chi Chi Apugo who is a very good friend of Hon. Ifeanyi Uchendu, the Chairman of panel setup by the House to resolve AJATA crisis. Secondly, the wife of the Secretary to the panel, Chief ALILI, is from Lodu. Thirdly, Deputy Secretary to the panel, Emeka Onyeama, is from Ibeku. The odd that we would get a fair hearing is “absolute ZERO”.

Now, let us examine how Amaoba land got STOLEN:

The Defunct Imo State negotiated and bought land from Lodu Ibeku. The land was located in Lodu, IBEKU. This land was earmarked for residential settlement. For many years the proposed project was not implemented. Because of open neglect by successive governments, some Lodu individuals seized the opportunity to illegally sell bits and parts of government purchased land. The need by present administration to develop a residential complex for public employees necessitated a revisit to the land acquired from Lodu Ibeku. But a huge part of that land had been sold off. No complete Lodu land to present to Abia State. Ugochukwu AKWADA and his gang deceitfully presented Amaoba land to representatives of the Abia government. There was no “Due Process” of inquiry involving Traditional Rulers of Amaoba Ime and Lodu. Greed by unscrupulous Land Speculators hijacked a normal process government does business. Ugochukwu Akwada knew his Traditional Ruler warned him against encroaching into Amaoba land and the severity of such an attempt. Instead Ugochukwu Akwada presented Chikezie Ukaegbu Ebila as the King of Amaoba even though he and I had met previously. He also, by his own admission, was aware that the same land was and still is Amaoba’s land.

In view of my presentation I appeal to His Excellency to look into the matter objectively to avoid violent escalation.

Following the presentation of HRM King O’tuwa 1st, the Deputy Governor Emetu assured all parties that the boundary adjustment committee would meticulously review the submitted documents and compile an unbiased report for the Executive Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR. He reaffirmed the current administration’s commitment to truth and fairness, pledging to address the matter with transparency and resolve.

The Deputy Governor’s assurance raised hopes for an equitable resolution to the longstanding dispute, as the communities await the committee’s findings and the state government’s final decision.
