Sale of Gen 35 Forms: Abia State Govt Reads Riot Act

Abia Head of Service, Benson Ojeikere, has warned civil servants to desist from collecting money for the issuance of Gen 35 Forms or face severe consequences.

The Head of Service who gave the warning in a meeting with Senior Management Staff of Office of the Head of Service (HOS) in Umuahia, also made it clear that it is part of the present administration’s efforts to clean up the mess in the service as well as promote a culture of transparency and integrity within the service.

In a statement signed by the Director of Information, Adaeze Ralph Igbokwe, the HoS stated that it is now a grievous offense for any civil or public servant to engage in the sale, parading, or distribution of Gen 35 forms within Government establishments.

The Head of Service added that no staffer is henceforth authorized to charge any money under any guise in the discharge of their duties just as he reiterated that the civil service is no longer business as usual.

The statement also stated that the HoS warned that any civil servants found guilty of violating this directive would face heavy sanctions in line with the Public Service Rules, maintaining that no stone will be left unturned in Government’s commitment to nipping corruption in the bud.

He also tasked staff of office of the Head of Service to be shining examples of who an ideal civil servant should be and ensure that Government efforts in making the civil service a world class institution is accomplished.
