In what appears to be a move to transform the Abia State civil/public service from a 19th-century standard to a world-class level, the Abia State Government has launched the “Betterr Service Initiative”.

In a statement signed by Adaeze Ralph Igbokwe for the Abia Head of Service, Mr. Benson Ojeikere, the initiative aims to deliver efficient, transparent, and virile services to the public and clients.

According to the statement, during the launch of the Initiative in Umuahia, the Head of Service, Mr Benson Ojeikere, stressed the importance of eliminating service failures, including delays, gratification, bribery, corruption, and other unethical behaviors.

The statement revealed that Mr Ojeikere also announced the launch of an official email, betterrservice@abiastate.gov.ng, to facilitate a more responsive and robust feedback system while encouraging civil servants and the public to use the service email to report issues, concerns, and suggestions.

He emphasized that prioritizing the needs of the public and clients is a task that must be accomplished.

The statement stated that the body of Permanent Secretaries, including the Chairman of the Betterr Service Initiative who is also the Solicitor General of the State, Barr. Paul Ogubunka and civil servants were present during the launch.
