Governor Alex Otti of Abia State, has vowed not to discuss the issue of pensioners in the state. The governor stated this on Thursday during his monthly media chat at the Banquet Hall of the Government House, Umuahia.

According to the Governor, the leaders of the Nigerian Union of Pensioners, NUP, in the state are dishonest even though the Pensioners are honest. He regretted that the leaders of the NUP, in Abia State, after signing the Memorandum of Agreement came back to say they were deceived to sign it.

“The leaders of the Pensioners are not honest. They should come back and say they made a mistake. I will not deal with them because they are dishonest. I have finished with them. Let them go to court. I will not deal with it again. You cannot collect the money and say you were deceived to sign an agreement.”

The Governor challenged them to return the payments they already received if they are not satisfied with the mode of payment of Pensions in the state. He admitted that his administration has not been paying 100% of the pensions and blamed the opposition Peoples Democratic Party for blowing things out of proportion.

“If anyone is not happy that he did not receive 100%, the person should return the ones paid. You cannot collect the money and say you were deceived. I have discovered that they are PDP and their lawyers are PDP. If they are not stupid, they won’t hire someone who owed them.”
