The Abia State Commissioner of Police, CP Danladi Isa, has harped on the need for professionalism in the force.

CP Isa spoke at the Police Officers’ Mess Umuahia, during the decoration of promoted officers with their new ranks on Tuesday.

He charged the promoted officers to avoid anything that can create a negative image of the police such as extortion, unbridled corruption and incivility in their conduct, reminding the officers that some of them are rude to civilians.

“So much is expected of you in the areas of your duties, number one is professionalism. I want you to do your job as professionals. Avoid those things that are capable of creating bad image to the police. One of them is extortion, unbridled corruption, avoid that as much as possible.” He added, “Some of you are rude to civilians. Remember that you came in as civilians and will retire back as civilians.”

He further encouraged the newly promoted officers to take charge, as their new posts bring new responsibilities, adding that the reward to hard work in the police is promotion.

“The reward for hard work is promotion in the police. And you know, one thing I have always told people is that, once you are promoted, you have higher responsibility.”
