Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru, has suspended two key officials following allegations of material diversion.
Southeastposts reports that the affected officials are Moses Ekuma, the Commissioner for Health, and Francis Ori, the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development.
It was gathered that the action follows a Saturday night incident in which Governor Nwifuru, during a visit to the Ministry of Health premises, discovered six officials allegedly caught diverting government materials.
The governor immediately ordered their arrest and pledged to ensure full prosecution of those involved.
Subsequently, their suspensions were ratified during the State Executive Council meeting held on Monday in Abakaliki, the state capital.
The Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Jude Okpor, confirmed the development in an official statement.
Similarly, the state government has assured Ebonyi citizens of its continued focus on good governance and the prudent management of public resources.
