Abia State Government says she remains resolute in addressing flood and erosion problems faced by communities in the state.
The Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Philemon Ogbonna who stated this while inspecting the on-going flood control and desilting work in Amaiyi Amaogwu Autonomous Community in Isuikwuato Local Government Area, assured that present administration will continue to respond to the needs of the people.

The Commissioner explained that the blockage of the existing culvert in the area which was small was responsible for the submerging of two buildings in the area, pointing out that government has come to effectively address flooding through the Flood and Erosion Control Department of the Ministry.

Mr Ogbonna, maintained that Dr Alex Otti led administration is bent on ensuring total restoration of the environment from flood and erosion at all cost.
Also speaking, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Environment Prof. Ijeoma Iheukwumere, described the massive work being done on the site as impressive, and a demonstration of the commitment of the present administration, while commending the Engineers for doing a quality work on the area.

Reacting to the development, the Traditional Ruler of Amahia lamaogudu Autonomous Community in Ahaba Imenyi Eze Nkere Kanu, expressed gratitude to the state government for the immediate intervention to save the people of the area from the threat posed by the flood.
Eze Kanu on behalf of the community, pledged their unalloyed support to the leadership of Dr Alex Otti in the state.
