Don’t Finger us as Being Behind Insecurity, PDP to Abia Govt

The Abia State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has urged the Abia State government to desist from politicising the issue of crime in the state.

The party made their position on Monday in reaction to Abia State government’s earlier statement accusing unpatriotic politicians of being behind the wave of violence and crime in the State since the end of May this year.

But PDP in a statement signed by Eric Ikwuagwu, its Publicity Secretary, enjoined the Abia State government to work in synergy with security agencies and provide them with any concrete evidence that could lead to the arrest and prosecution of those responsible for the killing of innocent citizens and not to sow seed of discord.

The statement reads, “Playing politics with the lives of Abians is not only counterproductive but also dangerous.

“We want to remind the current administration that combating insecurity demands comprehensive strategies beyond mere declarations,” the party said.

The party, which said that the opposition’s constitutional responsibility is to provide constructive criticism and present alternative perspectives without fear of intimidation, enjoined the State government not to finger it as being behind insecurity in Abia.
