The Senator representing Abia Central Senatorial District, Senator Austin Akobundu Rtd, says plans are underway to establish a “Tech City” in Abia Central Senatorial District.
He said the idea is to ensure that his constituents are trained simultaneously in all the LGAs he represents at the National Assembly, stressing that it will also reduce the risk of participants traveling long distances to acquire skills that will reposition them.
The Senator who gave the cheering news on Friday while addressing trainees participating at “Empower 1000 Abia Central Youth”, holding at Nostro Communication House, Ogurube Layout, Umuahia, emphasized that this is a way to go in order to conform to the changing dynamics of Nigeria and the world at large.
He noted that before assuming office as the Senator for Abia Central Senatorial District, he had already developed a mindset of aligning with young people and groom them to achieve their aspirations in life.
The Senator, who expressed satisfaction with what he has achieved within one year in office, re-affirmed his commitment to continue working hard by initiating programs that will impact positively on his constituents.
Senator Akobundu revealed that the programme has no political undertones, adding that the idea will continue to run even when he leaves office as the Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
He enjoined the participants to be serious with their training, maintaining that plans are still ongoing to decide on the next phase after they have acquired requisite skills to be self reliant.
