The Abia State House of Assembly, has condemned in strong terms the disrespectful and unruly actions meted out on the member, Ohafia South State Constituency, Hon Kalu Mba Nwoke by the Police allegedly on the directives of Abia Deputy Governor, Ikechukwu Emetu.

Recall that Kalu Mba Nwoke was reportedly assaulted at the Ohafia Local government Secretariat on Saturday, 2nd of November 2024, during the local government elections conducted by ABSIEC.

The lawmaker alleged that he was assaulted on the orders of the Deputy Gov Engr Ikechukwu Emetu because he demanded that election result sheets be available before the elections.

Meanwhile during plenary while deliberating on a Matter of Urgent Public Importance raised by Hon Godwin Adiele of Ukwa West State Constituency, he described the action as roundly insulting to the entire Abia State House of Assembly.

He added that it is expedient the 8th Assembly look into the matter holistically to forestall Executive -Legislative friction.

On his part, Solomon Akpulonu of Obingwa East State Constituency said the action of grievous assault on Hon Kalu Mba Nwoke is condemnable and seen as an affront on the entire Legislature and called for immediate inquiry on the cause of the mishap.
