Enugu State Government on Tuesday ordered for proper investigation, arrest, and prosecution of a group of students involved in the bullying and physical assault of a student at the Federal Government College, Enugu.
The government criticized the bullying of a student in the school hostel.
Recall that on Monday, a video clip circulating in social media space showed some students of the Federal Government College, Enugu, assaulting another student in the school hostel.
In a press statement issued to newsmen on Tuesday by the Enugu State Commissioner for Education, Prof Ndubueze Mbah, the government underscored its displeasure over the incident and zero tolerance for bullying, abuse, and any form of dehumanising treatment in the learning environments across the state.
The government warned that there would always be consequences for such acts, adding that the state government has been communicating with the Federal Ministry of Education to ensure sanctions are applied to the errant students and school managers who failed in their duties.
The commissioner reassured parents, students, and members of the public that the state government would always prioritize the safety and welfare of students.
The government stated that the record and massive investment the Governor Peter Mbah administration has put in place, points to the fact that he is out to ensure that the education sector is safe and conducive for learning.
