The former Vice Chairman and Acting Publicity Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Abraham Amah, has been elected as the new Chairman of the party in Abia State after pulling a total of 1,264 votes to defeat his closest rival, Barr. Olugu Kalu who pulled 395 votes.
Amah was declared winner of a keenly contested election held at the Sacramento Event Center, Umuahia which had 6 contestants: James Okpara, Amb. Godwin Okoro, Barr. Kingsley Imaga, Barr. Kalu Ogba, Barr. Olugu, and Chief Ukwu Rocks Emma.
Speaking after his emergence, Amah expressed gratitude to the stakeholders of the party and delegates for finding him worthy to serve as the Chairman of the party, pledging to pursue reboust engagement, reconciliation of aggrieved members among others.
Earlier, the Senator representing Abia Central Senatorial District Senator Austin Akobundu Rtd, described the State Congress of the party as impressive and a reflection of the ideals of the party while urging eventual winners to take responsibility and carry everyone along.
