A man believed to be in his 70s identified as Chief Nwokocha Irobunda has gunned down a 40-year old man identified as Mr Bright.
The tragic incident happened during the Local Government Election at Ohokobe Mbaocha, Umuahia North LGA of Abia State.
According to an eyewitness, the incident happened when late Bright, who hails from Ohuhu while his Mother is from Ohokobe, had an altercation with Chief Nwokocha Irobunda.
It was alleged that while the altercation was going on, Chief Irobunda ran to his house, picked up his gun, and shot Bright at close range.
Angered by the development, irate youths of Ohokobe Mbaocha descended heavily on Chief Nwokocha Irobunda.
The irate youths made efforts to destroy his house before the intervention of security agents, who calmed them.
As at the time of filing this report, the Abia State Police Command, had arrested Chief Nwokocha Irobunda.
