Abia state Independent Electoral Commission, ABSIEC, earlier today, commenced the distribution and conveying of Materials to the 17 local government Areas ahead the November 2nd, 2024 local government elections.
Addressing newsmen at the Commission’s Headquarters in Umuahia, the chairman of ABSIEC, Prof George Chima, explained that the commission is ready for the elections.
Prof Chima, who spoke through his Special Assistant on Communication Planning and Strategies, Dr. Afulike Christian, said the election would commence by 8am in the morning and end by 4pm in the evening, while collation of results starts immediately at various units and collation centers.
He noted that adequate security has been deployed for the election and solicited the support of all stakeholders to ensure peaceful polls just as he reiterated the commitment of the commission to free, fair and credible polls.
