Court Orders PDP’s NWC to Replace Senator Anyanwu with Sunday Udeh-Okoye

A Federal High setting in Enugu State has ordered the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to replace Senator Samuel Anyanwu as the party’s National Secretary.

The court, presided over by Justice Cyprian Ajah, directed the party’s National Working Committee to recognise Sunday Udeh-Okoye as the PDP National Secretary.

Ajah, who ruled on a motion ex parte on Monday, said the interim order would lapse after seven days. The motion ex parte was filed on Friday by a member of the party, Anaigu Emmanuel.

Anyanwu is the PDP governorship candidate for the November 11 election in Imo State.

The defendants in the suit are the PDP; its national chairman Umar Damagun; Samuel Anyanwu, national secretary, (on behalf of himself and the National Executive Working Committee) and the National Vice Chairman (South-East), Ali Odefa.

Justice Ajah ordered the 2nd defendant who is the PDP National Chairman to recognize Udeh-Okoye as the National Secretary pending hearing.

The South-East Zonal Executive Committee of the PDP had nominated Udeh-Okoye to replace Senator Anyanwu who is currently running to become governor in Imo state.

The matter has been adjourned to October 30 for the hearing of the motion on notice.
