Economic Growth of Nigeria must Emanate from States ~ Gov Mbah

The Governor of Enugu State, Mr. Peter Mbah, has said agriculture is not just about food security, but also about creating Special Agro Processing Zones, building a strong local and export market, and advancing the livestock industry with modern practices.

Governor Mbah, stated this on Monday on his X verified account @PNMbah while revealing the outcome of a meeting he had with a delegation of the government of Germany comprising the German business community in Nigeria and the German Corporation for International Cooperation, GIZ, led by the German Consul General, Mr. Weert Börner at the Government House.

He revealed that Enugu State is one of the three States chosen in the southern part for expanded economic cooperation with Germany, stressing that this feat reveals what his administration has done in enhancing ease of doing business.

In his words, “I’m excited that Enugu has been chosen as one of the three southern states for expanded economic cooperation with Germany. This partnership underscores the significant strides we’ve made in enhancing the ease of doing business in our state.

“It also aligns with our administration’s bold $30bn GDP target, which – though ambitious – is achievable through strategic private sector investments and robust international collaboration.

Governor Mbah, insisted that the economic growth of Nigeria, must emanate from the States of the country, emphasizing that he is committed to unlocking the economic potentials inherent in Enugu State particularly in Agriculture, energy, trade and investment.

“I’ve always maintained that our country’s economic growth must be emanate from the states. That’s why I’m committed to unlocking Enugu’s untapped economic potentials , particularly in agriculture, energy, trade, and investment.

“We’re also moving forward with the completion of the international wing of Akanu Ibiam International Airport and the construction of a cargo terminal to enhance our export capabilities. We’ve secured 300,000 hectares of land to attract commercial farmers and are investing in road infrastructure to ensure easy access for investors.

“I warmly invite our German partners to leverage the institutional strengthening, progressive policies, and the improved regulations we’ve implemented in Enugu, especially in the electricity sector”.
