Southeastposts.com, has gathered that there was mild drama at the plenary of Abia state House of Assembly on Wednesday, when three out of six commissioner nominees sent for confirmation by the Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti appeared without their credentials.
The misnomer was observed by the member representing Obingwa-West State constituency, Erondu Uchenna Erondu Jnr who frowned at why commissioner nominees would appear for screening without their credentials.
Erondu Jnr. said: “Going through their documents here with us, there is no single paper; including First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC), West African Secondary School Certificate (WASSC), tax clearance certificate, birth certificate or age declaration among others to back up their claims in their Curriculum Vitae”.
The Chairman, House Committee on Public Service, further described the development as awkward and a rape to democracy, urging the house to critically look into the anomaly to forestall recurrence and prevent further desecration of the revered hallowed chamber.
Meanwhile, the Speaker Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Emeruwa who finally bowed to pressure, said that one of the Commissioner nominee was not present at the screening because he was coming from afar, and informed that others would be confirmed after they present their credentials to the House at the next plenary.
Southeastposts.com gathered that out of the six Commissioner nominees sent to Abia State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation by the State Governor, only two were confirmed after the screening by the House.
The two include; Ubochi Goodluck Chinedu and Prof. Ogbonnaya Uche, while the confirmation of the other nominees were suspended pending when they submit their credentials to the Clerk of the House.
The House also at the plenary passed into law HAB 10; The Abia State Cocoa Development and Other Commodities and Marketing Board Bill, 2024 following its third reading and consideration of the report from its joint Committee on Agriculture, Trade, Commerce and Industry
The House later Adjourned plenary to reconvene on Tuesday 13th August, 2024.
