Counsel to the Indigenous People of Biafra, (IPOB) Ifeanyi Ejiofor, has lampooned the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, over his comments warning Ndigbo to sit at home and boycott the hunger protest to avoid being slaughtered.
Ejiofor stated that such comments coming from a public political figure were uncalled for and only demonstrated that Ndigbo had become an “endangered species, even under their political leaders.”
Ejiofor said this in a statement he issued to newsmen on Friday, pointing out that the notion by the Deputy Speaker that Ndigbo would be slaughtered for exercising their constitutional right to protest is an unfortunate reality.
The statement reads, “I find this statement from a prominent Igbo political figure deeply concerning, as it essentially sought to encourage Igbo to waive their constitutionally guaranteed rights.
Ejiofor insisted that the Deputy Speaker, who is from Abia State, should have known that hundreds of innocent people were abducted during military operations in the state and are still being abducted.
