The Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma has insisted that the economic challenges faced in Nigeria is complex and cannot be surmounted in just a year.
Gov. Uzodimma also stated that even as the challenges are huge, it requires the collaborative efforts of all and sundry to ensure that it is tackled.
The Governor who stated this in a tweet on his official X account @Hope_Uzodimma on Thursday morning, said these were the message he conveyed to various stakeholders in Imo State after a meeting, stating that everyone can put heads together, bring solutions on how to wriggle out of the current quagmire.
He said, “The economic challenges Nigerians face are complex and cannot be resolved within a year. However, with collective support and understanding, all can work towards sustainable solutions, navigate these trying times and emerge stronger as a nation.
At the stakeholders gathering, the Governor appealed to the people of Imo State to reconsider their stance regarding joining the nationwide protest despite their legitimate rights to peaceful protest, while also highlighting the dangers if the protest is hijacked by hoodlums which, according to him could result in destruction of critical infrastructures, loss of lives among other negative consequences.
“This was the highlight of my engagement with various stakeholders in our State, urging our people to reconsider participating in the planned nationwide protest. I emphasized the potential dangers of hijacked protests, which could lead to unintended consequences, despite the legitimate right to peaceful protest”.
He stated that President Bola Tinubu is working hard in attending to the plights of the citizenry, noting that he has shown that through various interventions and programmes he has initiated which also has long-term solutions
“My message is clear: President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is deeply attuned to the plights of our citizens. He has initiated numerous interventions and programs aimed at providing immediate relief while laying the groundwork for long-term solutions”.
Governor Uzodimma however, appealed to the stakeholders to convey the message of patience, hope among others to their constituents, maintaining that the government has already shown great commitment in addressing the concerns and well-being of the citizenry.
“These efforts demonstrate the Government’s commitment to addressing our concerns and improving our collective well-being. Therefore, I urge all stakeholders to convey this message of patience and trust in the Government’s plans to their constituents”
