As the nationwide protest against bad governance kicked off today, the Senate Minority Whip, Senator Osita Ngwu has expressed happiness that the people of Enugu State boycotted the ongoing nationwide protests tagged #EndBadGovernance.
Senator Ngwu, representing Enugu West Senatorial District in the Senate who stated this after monitoring the situation in his state on Thursday, described the decision of the people, especially the youths to go about their normal businesses, shunning the protests as a show of solidarity and expression of happiness with the administration of Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State.
The Senator lauded the people of Enugu for their show of understanding especially with the State Governor who, according to him has in the last one year demonstrated that he has the interest of Ndi Enugu at heart.
He also lauded youth of Enugu State for not joining the protest despite the precarious economic situations in the country.
Senator Ngwu called on people especially places where the protests turned violent to borrow a clue from the people of Enugu State and engage the government at the centre with their demands.
He appealed to them to give the government at the centre a second chance to address their concerns, informing that the National Assembly too was not folding its arms, but taking steps to provide legislative interventions to ameliorate the situation.
