Ebonyi State governor, Francis Nwifuru on Wednesday called on youths of the state to shun the planned nationwide hunger protest billed for August 1.
Nwifuru made the call at a Stakeholders’ Youth Engagement Summit held at the Christian Ecumenical Centre in Abakiliki.
He reiterated that his administration is committed to creating an enabling environment that will allow the youths to flourish.
Nwifuru stated that his administration recognizes the need for youth development, assuring that he is working assiduously to provide opportunities for education, skills acquisition and entrepreneurship.
He pointed out that he is aware of the planned protest against hunger and bad governance scheduled to take place across the country including Ebonyi State, stressing that he understands the reasons and concerns that have led to this call to action.
Nwifuru, however, urged youths of Ebonyi State and by extension South-East youths to refrain from participating in the protest.
