The Abia State Government says the monthly sanitation exercise for the month of July, 2024 will no longer hold due to important state functions.
A release endorsed by the Commissioner for Environment, Philemon Ogbonna and made available to newsmen, said the cancellation has become imperative following some important projects to be commissioned by Governor Alex Otti, on Saturday, July 27, 2024, in company of dignitaries from outside the State.
The release further stated that Governor Alex Otti is poised to ensure that Abia environment is kept clean always, and that, in so doing, restriction of movements usually observed during monthly sanitation exercises do not obstruct critical State engagements.
The release however, urged Abians to continue in the renewed spirit of maintaining clean and healthy environments at all times.
It reads, “The Abia State Government has cancelled the regular monthly exercise for the month of July, 2024.
“This cancellation has become necessary in view of some important projects to be commissioned by His Excellency, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, on Saturday, July 27, 2024, in company of dignitaries that will come from outside the State.
“We state that it is the desire of the Abia State Government, ably led by Dr. Alex Otti, that our environments are kept clean always, and that restriction of movements usually observed during monthly sanitation exercises do not obstruct critical State engagements. We encourage all Abians to continue in the renewed spirit of maintaining clean environments at all times”.
