2027: Old Aba Division Forum Backs Opah’s Guber Bid, Declares Support for Tinubu, Others

0

‎Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Old Aba Division People’s Forum, a prominent socio-political group in Abia State, has thrown its weight behind the All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship candidate, Chief Eric Opah, describing him as an aboriginal son, Nfu-La-Ala, of Old Aba Division, Ukwa/Ngwa.
‎
‎The Forum said it is made up largely of members from the Ukwa/Ngwa extraction, and its decision is driven by the need to rally behind “one of their own” who has proven himself and achieved success over the years.
‎
‎The resolution was reached during a meeting held on Friday in Aba, the commercial hub of Abia State, after which the Forum issued a communiqué.
‎
‎Reading the communiqué, Elder John Nwangborogwu stated that the Forum’s position is anchored on the APC’s decision as a leading political party to award its 2027 Abia governorship ticket to an aboriginal son of Old Aba Division, Ukwa/Ngwa, Chief Eric Opah, Nfu-La-Ala, Nwa-Afo Ukwa/Ngwa.
‎
‎“In the light of the above, we have resolved to totally align with and massively support the APC in Abia State and Nigeria as a whole,” the Forum declared.
‎
‎The group congratulated Chief Eric Opah on his emergence as the APC governorship candidate for 2027, and pledged to mobilize massively for him “all the way to his God-ordained victory” at the polls.
‎
‎The Old Aba Division People’s Forum also reaffirmed its unwavering support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.
‎
‎The Forum further cautioned President Tinubu against taking seriously the Labour Party’s claim in the state that it would vote for him in 2027, describing the assurance as deceitful.
‎
‎It also announced support for other APC candidates contesting various positions, including:
‎
‎1.  Senate, Abia South Senatorial Zone*: Erondu Uchenna Erondu Jnr
‎
‎2.  Aba North/Aba South Federal Constituency: Rt. Hon. Uzo Azubuike
‎
3.  Ukwa East/Ukwa West Federal Constituency: Hon. Chris Nkwonta
‎
4.  Obingwa/Ugwunagbo/Osisioma Federal Constituency: Prince Udo Alozie
