Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo has directed all political appointees to hand over their duties immediately after his swearing-in for a second term.
The Office of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) issued a circular on March 18, 2026, instructing appointees to transfer responsibilities to Permanent Secretaries or senior civil servants in their Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).
The handover must be completed by the close of work on the same day, pending a new cabinet constitution. “I am directed to inform all political appointees to hand over to the Permanent Secretaries or the most senior civil servant in the various MDAs on or before the close of work today… until a new cabinet is constituted,” the statement read.
The circular revealed that first-term cabinet members are to meet Governor Soludo on Monday, March 23, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at ANSEC Chambers.
The circular was signed by Permanent Secretary Dr. Nwabufor Nwankwo.
According to a source familiar with the development, this move signals the dissolution of the existing cabinet, marking a fresh administrative cycle under Soludo as he reconstitutes his executive team.
