‎Man Electrocuted While Vandalizing Power Facility in Enugu

‎A man was electrocuted on Tuesday while vandalizing an electricity facility belonging to MainPower Electricity Distribution Limited (MEDL) in Enugu.

‎The incident occurred at the Akonobi 500KVA Distribution Substation along Independence Avenue, Independence Layout, Enugu.

‎MEDL’s Head of Communications, Emeka Ezeh, described the incident as “unfortunate”, stating the deceased and his accomplices had loosened two intermediate cables and were removing a third when electricity supply was restored, leading to the electrocution. Two cables were missing, indicating accomplices fled with them.

‎Ezeh expressed concern over increasing vandalism targeting electricity infrastructure, impacting the company’s revenue and service quality.

‎He called for customer vigilance and collaboration to prevent such acts.

‎According to him, the police evacuated the body, depositing it at the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH) morgue.
