The Abia State Police Command has raided a criminal hideout at Ugwueke Community, apprehending suspects and recovering items including expended cartridges, local gun powder, Tramadol, and substances suspected to be hard drugs.
The raid was carried out by operatives from Igbere, Bende, and Uzuakoli Divisional Police Headquarters, along with the Command Tactical Team at Isieke Ugwueke , following a directive from Commissioner of Police, CP Danladi Isa, on proactive policing.
Suspects arrested include: Onyema Ike, Chukwuma Kelvin, Chidera Fredrick, and Onyekachi Okafor, who are currently under interrogation and will be charged to court soon.
The Abia Police Command spokesperson, DSP Maureen Chinaka in a statement on Thursday, said normalcy has been maintained in the community, with ongoing monitoring to prevent security threats.
Meanwhile reacting to the feat attained by his men, Commissioner of Police Abia State Command, CP Danladi Isa, reiterated the Command’s commitment to proactive policing.
He called for public partnership in crime fighting, urging the public to report suspicious activities to the nearest police station or contact emergency numbers: 08035415405, 08079210004, and 08079210005.
