Recall that the Governor Alex Otti-led administration had on assumption of office in May 2023 declared a state of emergency on education, health, and environment.

According to him, the Abia State Environmental Protection Agency (ASEPA) will oversee the initiative, with the construction of the bins being handled by Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic, Aba.

He added, “With the deployment of the new bins, it is hoped that the laudable waste disposal and sanitation activities of ASEPA will take the state to an even higher level of cleanliness.”

Kanu informed that the state Ministry of Works, through Direct Labour project is at present working at 48 different locations out of which five had been completed, stressing that there are the 1.175km Brewery Road Extension in Aba; 2.7km Umueze–Agbo Emede Road in Umuahia; and Sen Adolphus Wabara Road Off IBB–Ahieke Road, Umuahia.
