As part of efforts to deepen public enlightenment across the state, the Director of the National Orientation Agency Abia State Directorate, Comrade Victor Orji, has reaffirmed the Agency’s commitment to strengthening interagency co-operation.

During a courtesy visit to the Comptroller of Immigration Services Abia State Command, CIS Justina Owe, both agencies agreed to broaden collaboration on national campaigns and community based sensitisation.

Speaking during the engagement at the Immigration Command headquarters in Umuahia, Comrade Orji outlined NOA’s nationwide campaign focusing on five major thematic areas which include: national values reorientation in schools, flood mitigation advocacy, enlightenment on government policies and programmes, promotion of the Nigerian identity project and national symbols, as well as national security awareness campaigns.

He stated that NOA has been intensifying efforts to raise public awareness on the Continuous Voter Registration and the NELFUND student loan scheme.

According to him, co-operation among government institutions is vital in ensuring that these messages reach communities effectively and foster informed civic participation.

In his response, CIS Owe described the visit as timely and enlightening. She praised NOA’s extensive grassroots presence across all local government areas, noting that the Command is ready to support the dissemination of NOA’s messages, especially on voter registration. She requested that the Agency provide a sensitisation banner to be placed at the Command to enhance public visibility.

He called for NOA’s presence at the Command’s next general parade to sensitise officers on the NELFUND initiative. She sought deeper collaboration in identifying and registering non Nigerians living in various communities to improve national data capture and strengthen internal security structures.

CIS Owe said the collaboration reflects a growing emphasis on co-ordinated public enlightenment among government agencies in Nigeria. With widespread challenges ranging from voter apathy to irregular migration and limited awareness of national schemes, adding that the partnership between NOA and NIS offers a structured approach to educating communities, improving civic responsibility and strengthening national security at the grassroots level.

The Comptroller further proposed joint awareness campaigns to address the dangers of irregular migration, organ harvesting, human trafficking and drug abuse. She disclosed plans to visit all local government areas to enhance synergy between Immigration officers and Community Orientation and Mobilisation Officers at the grassroots level.

She lauded NOA for its dedication to national development, assuring the Agency of the Immigration Service’s readiness to partner in advancing government objectives, promoting lawful conduct and safeguarding national interests.
