2027: Mascot Uzor Kalu Expresses Interest to Seek APC Guber Ticket in Abia

Mascot Uzor Kalu, youngest brother of Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, has declared his intention to seek the All Progressives Congress (APC) Abia State governorship ticket for the 2027 election.

Chief Kalu, who was Chief of Staff to former governor Theodore Orji, made the declaration in Umuahia during a meeting with various support groups of the APC at the weekend.

According to him, his decision to govern the state was motivated by patriotism and his love to serve the masses, assuring that if elected, he would run an open, transparent and inclusive government.

He said, “Abia and Abians deserve more — especially the grassroots people, civil servants, pensioners, and traders. What our state needs is a government built on transparency, accountability, inclusiveness, and one that serves all without leaving anyone behind.

“On behalf of myself, wife and family, I stand before all of you to express my interest in the Abia State governorship ticket under our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), in the 2027 elections,” he said.

Kalu, recalled that he was one of the frontline candidates in the 2023 governor’s election, adding that as a democrat, he did not hesitate to congratulate the incumbent, Governor Alex Otti, when the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared him the winner.

While calling for unity among party members and Abians, he added, “Let us build an Abia that works for all, not just for some. Our project is anchored on God, guided by faith and perseverance.

“Although irregularities marred the elections, the outcome represented the change the people had been asking for. For that reason, I did not challenge the election outcome in court.

“I have given the administration room to govern without criticism for over two years. I acknowledge that some progress has been made under the administration. However, the progress remains far from the lofty campaign promises made to Abians during the 2023 electioneering period,” he further said.

He said Abians were yet to elect and have the governor they most deserve, especially a government built on transparency, accountability, and inclusiveness that serves all and leaves no one behind.

Chief Kalu, outlined his mission to unify Abians and build a prosperous, all-inclusive state where opportunities abound for everyone, regardless of political affiliation or social status.

He pledged to leverage President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda to deliver the dividends of democracy across the grassroots.
