2.8 million Voters Expected to Participate in Anambra Election – INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Tuesday listed 2.8 million voters for the November 8 governorship election in Anambra State.

INEC Head of Electoral Operations Department in Anambra, Mr.  Ejimofor Ejikeme, disclosed this during the commission’s Forum for Media Executives, Reporters, Producers, and Online-On-Air Personalities in Awka.

Southeastposts reports that at least 16 political parties and their gubernatorial candidates would participate in the poll.

Ejikeme revealed that: “A total of 2.8 million registered voters will participate in the November 8 governorship election in Anambra.

“The figure rose from 2.6 million registered voters to 2.8 million after the recent Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise in the state.”

According to him, the figure represented the final number of registered voters after the recent CVR exercise in the state.

Earlier, the INEC National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee,  Mr. Sam Olumekun, said the purpose of the meeting was to strengthen democracy through credible information and responsible media communication.

Olumekun appreciated the media practitioners for their professionalism and balanced reportage during the recent by-election in the state.
