The Senator representing Enugu East in the Senate, Senator Kelvin Chukwu has defected from the Labour Party (LP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Senator Kelvin Chukwu made the disclosure on Wednesday during a town hall meeting at the village market square where he intimated his constituents on some of his achievements in the Red Chamber of the National Assembly.

He informed his constituents that the decision to quit the LP was necessitated by the crisis rocking the party, which according to him has seriously affected its members of the party.

Senator Chukwu further stated that as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was currently swimming into deeper crisis, it was never an option.

He said he would formally declare for his new party on the floor of the Senate during plenary when the lawmakers resume while expressing appreciation to the people for their support since assuming office at the National Assembly, and promised not to let them down.
