PDP in Anambra Sets up Seven Man Disciplinary Committee

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Anambra State has set up a seven man disciplinary committee.

Southeastposts reports that the disciplinary committee which was inaugurated in Awka on Thursday had Chief Odili Ojukwu as chairman and Mr Obinna Ogugua as secretary.

Other members include: Mrs Uju Edochie, Deputy Chairman, Mr Chris Maduagwu, Mr Nnamdi Nwangwu, member, ⁠Chief Casmir Ilechukwu member and Chief Okechukwu Ekemezie, member.

Mr Chidi Chidebe, Chairman of the party in Anambra State, stated that the committee was charged with the responsibility of upholding discipline and ensuring adherence to the Constitution, rules, and regulations of the PDP.

According to him, the committee will also investigate allegations of misconduct, anti-party activities, or actions capable of bringing the Party into disrepute as well as recommend appropriate measures or sanctions in accordance with the PDP Constitution.

He said based on its findings, the committee could make recommendations including sanctions such as reprimand, suspension or expulsion to the SWC for approval.

Chidebe tasked members of the disciplinary committee to discharge the duty with utmost integrity, impartiality, confidentiality, and dedication to the ideals of PDP.

He added that the duration of their appointment shall be determined by the State Executive Committee (SEC) just as he said that the committee can also promote reconciliation and unity among disputing parties to strengthen the PDP.

According to him, “The SEC of the PDP in Anambra State Chapter, in compliance with Chapter 10, Article 57 (1)(2) of the Constitution of our great Party, has approved the Constitution of Anambra State PDP Disciplinary Committee.

“We congratulate the committee and look forward to your contributions toward strengthening discipline, unity, and internal democracy in the PDP in Anambra,” he said.
