An Abia born oil magnet and one of the speakers at the ongoing 2025 National Leadership Conference, holding at Transcorp Hilton Abuja, Engr. Obi Uzu on Friday, delivered a thought-provoking presentation, urging professionals to rethink their approach to success.

During his presentation, Uzu said, “Don’t just chase today’s luxury, build a legacy that lasts”. He emphasized the importance of looking beyond immediate gratification and focusing on building sustainable businesses and networks that will stand the test of time.

He encouraged professionals to adopt a long-term vision, creating value that will not only bring financial stability but also afford and sustain the luxuries they desire, emphasizing that individuals can ensure a brighter future for themselves, their families and communities.

Drawing from his personal experience, Engr. Obi Uzu shared his story of resilience and vision.

According to him, after retiring from his previous place of work, he reached out to professional colleagues to join him in building a new venture. He said those who obliged became part of a journey that would transform the oil servicing industry in Africa.

Continuing, “Today, Global Process and Pipeline Services Ltd, a company I founded, has risen to become one of the top oil servicing companies in the continent, and those who partnered with me can afford any luxury they desire today.”

He also highlighted the importance of investing in indigenous workers and professionals, advising industry leaders to send Nigerian professionals abroad to enhance their skills, with the expectation that they would return to apply their knowledge and expertise in Nigeria.

This strategic investment, Engr. Obi argued, would not only benefit the individuals but also the nation at large, stressing the potential challenges of relying on foreign professionals just as he noted that they may eventually return to their home countries and finding suitable replacements could be difficult.

He added that by developing the skills of Nigerian professionals, industry leaders can ensure sustainability, self-sufficiency and long-term growth.

Engr. Uzu’s message resonated as he inspired attendees to think critically about their professional journeys and strive for lasting impact as his success story serves as a testament to the power of collaboration, strategic planning, and long-term vision.
