In what appears like an attempt to woo the Governor of Abia State, Dr Alex Otti, a Methodist Bishop, Sunday Ndukwo Onuoha on Thursday, teased Governor Otti to join the African Democratic Congress, (ADC).
Onuoha, the 2023 Governorship Candidate of the ADC who made the tease while speaking with Southeastposts, described ADC as “The Holy Bride”, saying the party can accommodate the incumbent Governor if he considers leaving the Labour Party.
Speaking further, the 2013 Global Peace Award Winner, who acknowledged the various infrastructural developments under the incumbent Governor, added that joining the ADC, will allow the Governor unprecedented opportunity to continue providing dividends of democracy to Abians.
Bishop Onuoha said, “And we have a home that can give the Governor the right platform to do what he is doing for Abians. We don’t want any system that will unsettle him, ADC, “The Holy Bride”,will accommodate the Governor in his quest to continue delivering dividends of democracy to Abians.”
On whether he would run for the 2027 election against Governor Otti, Bishop Onuoha stated that he is not nursing the ambition of running against the Governor, recalling that during the debate for the 2023 governorship election in the State, Otti’s position centered on how to maximize the economy of the State, adding that Abia is in safe hands.
He stated that the Governor has proved to many that he is an economist, who has shown prudence in the management of the resources of the State, emphasising that based on this premise, he believes that the State is in safe hands just as he expressed optimism that the economy of the State will continue to grow under his watch.
Bishop Onuoha said, “I think the economy of the State will continue to grow under his watch. I’m not going to run in 2027 against Governor Otti because I have always given him every support. And I’m also pleading with him to consider African Democratic Congress, which is the Holy Bride.”
